I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I was praying it would hold a candle to the original (meaning, John Carpenter's version, not the 50's something original), but I was sure it couldn't be AS good. I was very hopeful about updated technology with regards to the STUNNING special effects (ESPECIALLY considering the time, 1981/82?) in the John Carpenter version. Special FX done well can kick the poop out of Visual FX in many instances. YAY for GOOEY!! :) ;)

(spolier alert)You know i actually liked in this one that it showed a little more of the creature and the Spacecraft. Sort of filled in more of the blanks for me from the first one. They did not really try to out do Kurt's role in the previous. I like how they switched up the earring bit at the end. Overall i think they did very well. often remakes don't make the grade, this time they nailed it. Slo

My boyfriend, Dan, brought up that the alien body that has all the memories... shouldn't it also know which ear his earring was in? That got me, then I thought, is it possible because his view of it would always be in a reflection of some type, perhaps he botched the side due to that? It's recreating based on genetic info, not visual, though, I'd think.

Probably an easy out that they hoped wouldn't occur to the audience, I'm thinkin'. I don't think that couldn't have come up when they were working all logistics out, but, perhaps they had to make due with an alternate ending of what they originally wanted due to budget, or poor audience testing... so many factors can come into play for these types of things, after all.

I was happy they included some of the original score, which is part of the atmosphere that I love from the J.C. version (no pun intended) ;)

Vel :D
