First thing to do is setup your account. Please visit http://www.yserbius.org/wow3/register.php to setup your free account.

Be sure and set the expansion to Wrath of the LichKing so that you have the latest addon permissions.

The WoW client version you need is 3.3.3 11723 which is one short of a full patch job. So when you start patching please stay alert, you do not want to take the last patch to 3.3.5. i repeat you do not want to patch no further than 3.3.3 11723

Ok lets assume you do not have a client. I would say the best place to start is here.

Let it install Wrath of Lich King and be sure to follow the next instructions before launching the game.

To access the wow server you need to change your realmlist.wtf file.
-Go into the folder where you installed WoW
-Go into your "data" folder
-Go into your locale folder (it's going to be named something like "enUS", "enGB", "frFR", "deDE", etc.)
-Open realmlist.wtf in Notepad and change the contents from this:

set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com

to this:

 set realmlist 208.83.249.50

You can make your realmlist.wtf file look like this:

// set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
// set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
set realmlist 208.83.249.50

Then you just // out the lines you do not want it to use and you can easilly switch between retail and private servers for futre patching operations.

NEW TIP. BROWSE TO YOUR WOW FOLDER AND SEND SHORTCUT TO DESKTOP FOR WOW.EXE instead of using the Standard Launcher.EXE. This will solve the patching problems.

Now, if you want to not change realmlist.wtf file each time you switch between a private server and retail.... just copy your wow install folder somewhere else.
Say retail is here c:\program files\world of warcraft
drag and drop the entire folder in the C:\ drive.
Rename the folder c:\world of warcraft 309 private or what ever you want.
Leave the c:\world of warcraft 309 private folder patched to 309 and when the retail goes to version 3.1.0 (c:\program files\world of warcraft) download the 3.1 patch and put it in the retail folder and run it. It will just patch that wow folder not the private one.

I hope this makes sense. Please post questions and feedback. There are settings that can be changed and I'm sure Slohand would be happy to configure the server as needed. While we probably don't want an uber server, somedays it would be nice for a new toon to start out at level 25 or something. Create some threads and let the fun begin.

Buy WoW: Lich king and install. Patch to the correct version. Follow above to change realmlist.

• If you install 2.0.0 Non-TBC and patch it to 2.4.x before installing TBC,
you will have to reinstall all the patches again, in order too access the Burning
Crusade areas.

• the fastest path to take would be :

WoW 2.0.0 -> TBC expansion -> 2.4.0 -> 2.4.1 -> 2.4.2 -> 2.4.3 -> 3.0.1 -> 3.0.2 -> 3.0.3 then get the patches to 3.0.9.9551

Blizzard offers 2.0.0 free for download, same with the TBC (see links below) :

Remember tho, in order to access WotLK content you need to have WotLK, not just TBC - so you may just want to d/l Lich King from Bliz and then patch.

FYI - the database is a constant work in progress. You will most likely run into some bugs. We are using the Reaper X DB. They do have a website if you want to post bugs, etc. If you want the link, let me know. Along the same lines, the server program is also constantly updated. It still is a great deal and close to retail.

Hi Sidd,

I got my install working but I had trouble until I changed the target for the WoW icon to run Wow.exe instead of Launcher.exe. Until I changed it the thing kept trying to get the last patch that you said not to get. I just thought I would save others the aggravation and let people know.

Just bypass the Launcher and use the WoW application. dont copy and paste it though, you have to create the short cut then toss it where you want it.

That is what you want to do, make a shortcut to wow.exe and don't use the launcher.exe. Then it won't try to patch all the time.

I patched to 3.3.3 11723, created a shortcut off wow.exe and edited my realist.wtf file, and when start wow it begins to download a patch and redirects me to the launcher to patch higher than 3.3.3 11723 lol. So I'm trying hard not to patch go past 3.3.3 11723. I did not use the mirror instead I babysat my Bliz download. What should I try next? Thank you

I did the same thing Vena did... Baby sat the DL, and stoped when it got to the right patch... Somewhere, the Wow.exe is still telling WoW to patch... I checked the logs, and while WoW does connect to our server, the patcher still runs, then wants to update to 3.3.5....

Ok... It appears either, I'm creating the account incorrectly... Or something... I do see however, there's a diffrence between using an email as the login, and a username... If you use an email, it'll try to connect to Battle.net, regardless of what you have set in the WTF file... I was able to test that theory....

So... I tried again to create an account, as like before I didn't get any comfirmation or anything... So I have no clue if I have an account or not...

Like Rando told me, if I enter an email address that's not good because then it wants me to patch to 3.3.5 *Update: I'm working, Sidd helped me with my user name and password

sorry i been afk cutting hay on my farm, i am not sure why the signup sheet stopped working, i will have to look at it,
meanwhile sidd are there any server side apps we can use to create signups in the meantime, i am going to look into the wow2 signup today...

another told me could not make another account and so I tried too

and could not make another account even with another email address

The previous signup sheet broke for some reason so i had to find a alternate the instructions now have a link at the top with the link to automatically signup and create an account. let everyone know please
