Some folks here unfortunately will not be able to log in. dont ask who or why. especially the why. No one knows, not even the 3500 members at UOGATEWAY. below is a post I placed at the support site trying to ellicit help from those that possibly know the solution. as of yet no reply. Before posting it let me say Beamer was the one who was able to beat this problem. I am sure if asked he will post the exact steps he took to beat this bug. It depends on what lengths you are willing to go to enjoy a free online game.
So for those that come upon this error I apologize and trust me when i say i am trying to figure this out for you. I would ask if you have a second computer or access to one that you try to do the same thing on the other one and see what result you get. I ask though if you get these errors , please send me your Operating System, platform, type of Internet connection, router, firewall, switch, hub type if any. I would like to create a database and try and find what causes this issue. Thanks all. Slohand
Has there been any sort of conclusion to this matter? I see here in the support forums that people are getting the same errors. The ones i am talking about are the problems communicating with Origin and it hanging up and not finishing. I have about 300 members on my website and 1 out of three report the same error. 33% of people cannot log into the game following the same instruction set. There is no rhyme or reason for it. there have different OS's different Platforms. No two logs read the same. It is like some program somewhere flips a coin as to who gets to log in and who doesn't
I know it has been said on the board here that RUNUO is not required but to relate a story here. one member determined to get in game read that rumor on the boards and actually downloaded RUNUNO created a shard logged into it locally and then turned it off and uninstalled RUNUO and was able to log into Our Shard from then on.
I was just wondering if anyone was seeing this besides me. I guess I notice it more when i get 33 percent of all my membership base emailing me and asking for help. Help which i cannot give because I cannot recreate the problem myself. I did however offer the following advise.
1. make sure your OS is fully patched
2. make sure UO is fully patched
3. Check UO Gateway settings to be sure client is set to a UO client
4. Reinstall both UO and UOGateway if no progress
5. Try Earlier version of UO Gateway
6. Download VB Files at the link on UOGATEWAY
6. WORSE CASE and you absolutely are so desperate to play you will spend the time. Install RUNUO, MAKE SHARD, Log in locally, Log Out, Log into our Shard, and Uninstall Runuo or whatever. (NOTE!, It has pointed out many times RUNUNO is not required to play.)
Who knows, perhaps there is some switch in the code that does not activate for what so ever reasons. Thuse far out of 33 percent only one person has successfully beat back the foe that prevented them from logging in. And they used Advise 6 above to do it.
So in closing. I am no closer to a conclusion than anyone else is. Should you come here with the same problem 33 percent of my members had and read this. I suggest you try the above steps. Until a more intelligent or logical(which should not be hard to do) set of instructions is offered.
Use these if nothing more than a checklist.
