I just returned, had a good and informative time. I do not have internet access at home right now. Not sure what happened, just a head's up, I wont be on for a while. I'm also going to Poland next month for study, that will last until Christmas, and resume a month later.

I thought Iran was fun, Poland was a bit boring for me on the other hand. From now on, I don't go any further east in Europe than say, Vienna or Prague (no offense anyone ).
As for pictures, I have many pics of myself at the Persepolis, which I may upload to the gallery once I figure out how that works. (2 of them show me sitting/standing on/by statues protected by UNESCO world heritage)!

No, nobody was shooting at me, although I did get an unexpected surprise visit from the morality police within a minute after inviting a female cousin to my hotel room (trying to get room service since restaurant was closed). I stayed at the former Hilton Hotel when in Tehran. It was like a museum from the 70's. Now they just call it the Revolution Hotel. Good times, indeed

You would actually be in a safer position going than me, since you only have American citizenship. I saw American tourists here and there, they seemed quite happy and people were nice to them. The only trick is finding a tour agency that can arrange a visa for you. Since I have dual nationality, there's always the fear of being drafted into the military.
Egypt is cool, I have a friend I played UO with that went there (American guy) and he had a great time. I hear they have cheap deals out there for people who want to go and see pyramids and such
