Ok, ok, so we all have found yserbius.org. Run by the great Slohand. The project here so far is a java based applet, but could run stand along as well. There are two other projects currently out there. FauxINN and The Yserbius Project.

Let's take FauxINN first. It's a build of the complete INN/TSN application in Flash. In Flash! Ok, mark this one to fail.

The next in the Yserbius project, built in C#. Good code language, not the best for graphics, but will work. Issue is the coder is working alone and thus it might take some time.

Finally, we come to yserbius.org. Some good developers, good platform, good community. I think we got it. So the other two can kiss my, well, they are trying and the very best to them, just wanted to let you guys know you are in good hands here and we've got a great shot at getting this off the ground.

Whither goest Slohand goest my INNation. He's got my back. The other guys, well, I don't know them, so nyeah.

About the walls, I'm not sure what you mean, so I'll have to pass unless I can smell said wall without being mistaken. Doesn't sound like fun though, so thumbs down on the whole idea. Okay, doesn't sound like fun for ME. Can't be too careful.

Xenther is a very cool guy (Yserbius Project)

don't know many that heard about the Asunder concept but I was involved in it for a short time w/ the art side of things - life blew us all in the wrong direction however...

anyway, much respect to Xenther & the Ys Project. Anyone willing to give it a chance and put some heart into coding is top of my list!

Out of all the YS restoration projects I've been involved with (yes, Asunder (at xensoft), empiriana (a ripoff in my eyes of YS, sorry if i step on your toes with that comment), Mithrandel/Jason and the FauxINN project, and now ys.org) I think this one has the most chance of success because of the level of commitment being displayed here, the sheer number of veterans returning, and the fact that in terms of design, this site is hundreds of times better than xensoft or fauxinn. The artwork for Asunder was excellent, FYI -- it was miles ahead of Yserbius.

We need to get ALL the community together in ONE place working on ONE project and then we will see the best results. I think this is already happening as Xenther and several others have moved over here or lent their support to ys.org.

Hmm

I dont think Emp is a YS, It is a MUD yes and so was YS MUDs are for the most part the same. as are the other MMO's of today how many ways can you twist a story I am not sure only that there are but so many. So with the amount of time and effort Mac and Beam put into Emp I would venture to say it is nothing like YS except for being a MUD ,, my opinion though for whatever that means.. Slo

Empiriana was most certainly not part of a Yserbius recreation project.

Though if it was, it would be the most complete by far as it is about 6 times larger than all the Ys series combined as has significantly more functionality.

Being compared to Yserbius is a compliment, but they are completely different games. If you think that is a "rip-off" that's fine. But Empiriana stands on its own merits, and though its old, there are still quite a few who play and enjoy it for its own special character.

Best Regards,
